The book, in the original Turkish, is called Kars after the town it takes place in. Kars is an interesting place, at least for me, for two other reasons: Gurdjieff lived there for a while and it used to be part of Armenia when Armenia was part of the Russian Empire. I could say more but will not… I will wait and see what Pamuk has to say.
